Within the school is a 709 seat proscenium theater, library, gymnasium, and band rehearsal rooms. Each Fall the school puts on an amazing production of a Shakespeare play, most recently HAMLET and A WINTERS TALE.

Northampton High is a very strong sports school. Both boys and girls soccer are highly ranked, and the Ultimate Frisbee team is ranked 32nd in the country. The Cross-Country Team is one of the best in Massachusetts. Northampton High School also has one of the strongest girls varsity basketball programs in the state. The Northampton High School Girls Varsity Basketball team won the Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Basketball Championship for the 2007-2008 season.
