. The route is completely contained within Lenoir County and runs near the NC Global Transpark. It is also known as C.F. Harvey Parkway.

Route description

NC 148 starts at US 258 north of Kinston. It runs northeasterly around the south side of the Kinston Regional Jetport and the NC Global Transpark. The northeastern end is at a connection with NC 58.

History

The first section between Rouse Road and NC 58 was completed in May 2001 at a cost of $6.6 million. The route for the third section of the highway was chosen in July 2002.
The roadway was named for C. Felix Harvey in August 2002. The second section between US 258 and Rouse Road was finished in August 2003 for $8.2 million. The roadway was formally dedicated in in November 2003 for the local leader behind the Global Transpark.

Future

Work is underway to extend and connect NC 148 to US 70. This third phase of the overall highway will cost $37.3  million to grade the 4 miles (6.4 km) of planned highway in a project that will be finished in October 2012. The state will contract for the paving near the completion of the grading. The overall extension will involve the construction of 12 bridges and 2 highway interchanges.
