The country is represented by a delegation of thirty-seven athletes and six officials. Niue's athletes competed in weighlifting, athletics, shooting, lawn bowls and wrestling.

Women's 75 kg weightlifter Narita Viliamu had described as the country's "one outside shot at a medal", but Niueans did achieve upsets in lawn bowls, with "a shock 8-6 4-13 2-1 [victory over] the New Zealand men", and a 10-6 2-21 2-1 victory over the Australian women.
