, he had a hunger for politics from his early days, becoming the panchayat head with no political backing at the time, but his dreams were realised after him becoming a certified lawyer Nimma Raja Reddy was an avid law student and he did B.A in (L.L.B.). He first contested for the Cherial constitutency seat as an independent and lost narrowly, he was then inducted into the Telugu Desam Party
where he flourished with great raport. His prolific political moments include becoming a state minister twice. He took over the reins as the Finance Minister as well as the Power and Textiles Minister in Late Shri. N.T. Rama Rao's cabinet in the Government of Andhra Pradesh
. He was also a member of the TDP Politburo, along with other senior TDP leaders. Nimma Raja Reddy has never been defeated in Assembly Elections barring his one of independent venture. He quit active politics after his term ended in 1999, and has been a strong opponent of TDP in the region ever since his expulsion. He joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi
after he was expelled from the Telugu Desam Party
for parting with and supporting N.T. Rama Rao's re-election as the Chief Minister, during Chandrababu Naidu's coup. Nimma Raja Reddy was one of only a handful of MLA's that actively campaigned for his re-instatement. His ideologies weren't one with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi
party which forced him to quit his post and join the Indian National Congress
in late 2008. He was given honorary membership to the All India Congress Committee, being one of the senior most leaders within the congress camp. With the merger of the Cherial Assembly Constitutency and the Jangaon Assembly seat, in the 2009 elections. Nimma Raja Reddy was entrusted by the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to help retain the seat for the representing Congress candidate Ponnala Laksmaiah. In which the latter won purely with Nimma Raja Reddy's influence, setting up a land slide victory result for Congress in the region. He breathed his last on 19 October 2009 in Cherial
