One of the show's central themes was of Dwight's mother constantly being angry with Nikki for "luring" her son into a marriage. She believed her son was destined for better things, and settled for a career as a wrestler instead of pursuing a career as a tax attorney.

A total of 41 episodes were ordered, produced and filmed, but due to low ratings, Nikki was canceled in January of 2002
