Multi-Modal Transport Corridor (MMTC) project

Nicklin Way currently carries 54 000 vehicles per day (vpd) south of the Mooloolah River.
This is estimated to grow to 75 000 vpd by 2016 and 90 000 vpd by 2026. Without another Mooloolah River crossing, Nicklin Way would require eight, then 10 lanes respectively.
An alternative to widening Nicklin Way is the construction of the MMTC from Caloundra Road to the Sunshine Motorway. The MMTC was recognised in previous planning as an alternative north-south transport corridor. This will reduce congestion on Nicklin Way and provide opportunity for development of sustainable solutions such as active transport
(trains, buses, cycling, walking).
