Ni Hao 你好 is one of the most common greetings used in the Chinese language
. It is made of two words - Ni (你) meaning "you" and Hao (好) meaning "good".
Ni means "you", so you would say this to only one person. By adding the ma, the literal meaning would be "you good?" or "how are you doing?".
