. During the colonial area it was renowned for its plantations. A mountain surrounds the village of the same name. A mission hospital has been established in Nguludi as well as a church; the mission was established by Missionaries of Africa and the Marist Fathers in 1901. It was ransacked in the Chilembwe Rising of 1915.
