Neyland Rugby Football Club claim to be founded in 1885 and celebrate their 125th anniversary during the 2011–12 season. In 1946, just after the reformation of competitive rugby in Wales after the events of the Second World War, the club formed a joint committee with the local cricket club to purchase a playing field. The playing fields would, in 1963, become part of the local Athletics Club.
