 issued the note because the note will last four times longer than its counterpart, the paper banknote. The Bank also said the notes are non-porous meaning they don't absorb liquids, there fore they are much cleaner. The notes have much better features than the paper notes which also deters counterfeiters.

Design

On the front of the note is the explorer Sir Edmund Hillary. Aoraki / Mount Cook, the tallest mountain in New Zealand, can be seen to the left of the bill. Hillary was the first to climb Mount Everest

Above the fern window there is a fern printed on both side when you hold it up to the light the two ferns will match up perfectly. When the note is put under UV Light a yellow patch should appear with the number 5 with the use of fluorescent dyes.
