Neil Thomas McCorkell is a former wicketkeeper for Hampshire County Cricket Club
. He played cricket
for Hampshire from 1932 to 1951 and scored more runs than any other wicketkeeper for the County.
In 1932 he established his position in the County side and went on to play 396 first-class matches
, scoring 16,106 runs at an average of 25.60, including 17 centuries. He scored a thousand runs in a season on nine occasions, and scored 203 against Gloucester in 1951, his last season. As wicketkeeper, he took 532 catches and 185 stumpings.
In 1937/38, McCorkell was a member of Lord Tennyson
's tour of India and played 10 matches.
McCorkell retired from first-class cricket in 1951 and subsequently emigrated to South Africa
. As of 2011, he is Hampshire's oldest surviving player, two years ahead of the next oldest, John Manners.
