Style

Natural Vibrations, also known as "Natty Vibes" or simply "Da Vibes," uses a combination of reggae, rock, and classic Hawaiian influences in its music. With strong roots in Jamaica and Hawaii, Natural Vibes tries to combine the most prominent aspects of the two musical cultures. The musicians appropriately describe their group as a “wild, sexually explicit, three-ring circus-like, hard-partying, fun-loving, pop/rock/reggae band.” Their songs' lyrics are explicit and uncensored yet still smooth and romantic. Natural Vibrations' style perfectly represents the classic beach culture.

History

Natural Vibrations was formed by Penidean Pua’auli (vocals), Shane Abraham (keyboard, vocals), Kayton Macarlola (percussion, vocals), Stacy Medeiros (drums), Jehua Evans (bass, vocals), and Wayne Enos (guitar, vocals) in 1993. What started out as a group of friends playing small house parties became a professional music career as the band began recording albums and going on tours. Natural Vibrations soon became one of the most popular bands in Hawaii Although fame doesn’t come easily on the isolated Hawaiian Islands, word of Natural Vibrations’ chill reggae music began to quickly spread to the beach cities of the mainland.

Shows

Although Natural Vibrations usually restricts its tours to the Hawaiian Islands and the west coast of the mainland, they have played with many world-renowned reggae artists. One of the more prominent artists Natural Vibrations has shared the stage with is Ziggy Marley. This increasingly popular Hawaiian band has most definitely gained the respect of famous reggae artists around the world.

Success

Natural Vibrations has consistently released albums every few years since their 1996 debut, “Balls Rolling.” Almost every album produced by Natural Vibes has won an award. Natural Vibrations was regarded as one of the best reggae bands in Hawaii when their second album, “All Natural,” earned the Na Hoku Hanohano Award for best reggae album of the year in 1998. Just one album later, “Getting High” was named the best reggae album at the Hawaiian Music Awards. They were once again given the Na Hoku Hanohano Award for the album, “The Circle,” in 2004. Then, in 2008, the next one of their albums, “From the Heart,” was named best reggae album at the Hawaiian Music Awards again. Their most recent album, “Ultimate Vibes,” is a compilation of all of the group’s most popular and successful songs. The unique music produced by Natural Vibrations has consistently appeared on the reggae billboard charts. There is no doubt that band will gain even more success as it continues to release great reggae albums.
