as a part of the Indian Science Congress 2011. It is open to individual producers as well as production houses.

Objective

The festival is an initiative of Vigyan Prasar, Govt of India to promote science films in India. Science film making is not a developed field in India compared to many other developed countries. The festival is meant to bring attention towards the need of quality science film making in the country.

Award Categories

The competition category is open to Indian entries only. International science films will be screened under non-competition category. The three competition categories are

1. Popular Science Programme (more than 20 minutes duration)
2. Short Film on Science and Technology (less than 20 minute duration)
3. Animation and Graphic film/video on Science and Technology (films with any duration)

In each category there are three awards. The best film in each category will receive Golden Beaver Award and cash prize of Rs.50,000. Second best film in each category will get a cash prize of Rs.30,000. The third prize is consist of Rs.20,000.
