During the press conference following the annual meeting of Workers' Struggle (LO), December 8, 2008, Nathalie Arthaud was the officially designated spokesman of the party. She explained that the choice of a spokesperson is a deliberate feminist choice: "It is a voluntary policy that we take completely, including our fellow men. They are very proud. I remind you Arlette Laguiller was the first woman to run for president in France, a sign that control has always been working on this issue."
