Dr. Narayan Bhaskar Khare (born 19 March 1884 Panvel
- d 1970) was an India
n politician. He stayed with his uncle and studied highschool at Jabalpur. He later joined Medical college Lahore
and won Gold Medal. He was the first M. D. of the Punjab University.
He was member of Indian National Congress from 1916-1938. He was first elected as Member of Second Legislative Council of Central Provices during 1923-26 and later to Third Legislative Council during 1927-1930.
He was Congress Member of Legislative Assembly M L A (Central) during 1935-1937. He was M L A of Central Provinces from 1937-1943.
He served as prime minister in the first elected government of the Central Provinces and Berar
in August 1937- July 1938. He resigned at the request of the Indian National Congress
leadership.
He served on the Viceroy of India's Executive Council from 1943 to 1946. Afterward he was also Prime Minister of then Alwar State from 19 April 1947 to February, 1948. He also served as Member to Constituent Assembly of India
during July 1947 to February, 1948. Later he joined Hindu Mahasabha on l5th August, 1949 and was its President from 1949—51.
After Indian Independence, he served in the 1st Lok Sabha
, India's lower house of parliament, from 1952 to 1955. He was elected as Hindu Mahasabha candidate from Gwalior then Madhya Bharat
. He later settled in Nagpur
and died in 1970.
