After the death of his father in 1599, Musa Khan took power of Bengal as the chief of the Bara-Bhuiyans. Continuing his father's legacy, he resisted Mughal invasion for more than a decade until 10 July 1610 when he was dethroned by Islam Khan

Death

He died in 1623 in Dhaka. He was buried in Bagh-i-Musa-Khan, close to Musa Khan Mosque. It is situated within a present-day residence hall compound of Dhaka University.
