As the title borgmästare (mayor

) is not used in Swedish municipalities anymore, municipal commissioner is often translated as mayor when referring to the chair of the executive committee. Borgmästare is nearly always used when referring to municipal leaders outside of Sweden, making the use of the title similar to the terminology around the President of the People's Republic of China
