Munda Biddi Trail

Munda Biddi Trail is a 900 km long distance bicycle trail
in Western Australia
. "Munda Biddi" means 'path through the forest' in the Noongar
language.
The trail commences in Mundaring
and meanders through scenic river valleys and the magnificent eucalypt forests of the State’s South West. It utilises a network of bush tracks, firebreaks and disused railway formations and has sections suitable for cyclists of all ages and experience levels. Situated a comfortable day’s ride apart are purpose-built Munda Biddi campsites with camp huts and tent sites.
It runs generally to the west of the Bibbulmun Track
walking track. There are plans to extend the trail as far as Albany
.
Recent government funding has allowed for the trail to be extended to Albany and this is expected to be completed 2011-2012. Once completed the trail will run for almost 1100 km.
The trail is run by the 'Munda Biddi Trail Foundation', a not-for-profit organisation which was formed to assist the Department of Environment and Conservation and other land managers get the trail project off the ground. The foundation continues to be involved in trail development and planning.
The Munda Biddi foundation recently opened a new section of trail from Collie to Nannup. The trail will extend to Northcliffe in the next 12 months
