. Just before his death in 1959 he made his famous statement, "it would be all right if all my works were burned, except for 'Muna Madan.'" Muna Madan is the most commercially successful Nepali book ever published.

Synopsis

It describes the life of a man who leaves his wife and goes abroad to make money and while returning he becomes sick on the way. His friends leave him on the road and come back home saying he died on the way. It also shows the life of a poor woman who suffered much without her husband and later dies because of grief. When Madan returns back after being healthy, he discovers that his dear wife is dead and grief surrounds him. Madan comes to realize that money is of no value at that point. In this poem Laxmi Prasad writes that greatness is not measured by one's race, but by their deed.
The book was later adopted into a movie, directed by Gyanendra Deuja. The movie had National award Nominated actress Usha Poudel in her debut role as Muna. The movie had been the official representative of Nepal in 2005 Academy Awards.
He is also an great author who created "muna madan".
