Background

The Band was named after, and affiliated with, the company Muirhead & Sons, a sawmill also based in Grangemouth founded by George A. Muirhead. The pipe band were crowned World Champions in 1955, 1956 and 1965 under Pipe Major John Smith, and in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969 under infamous Pipe Major Robert G. Hardie.

Trivia

The Band wore the Princess Elizabeth tartan, and when they folded in the early 70s, their original number 1 uniforms were given to the Denny and Dunipace Pipe Band
