Muine Bheag halt serves the town of Muine Bheag in County Carlow
The station opened on 24 July 1848 as Bagenalstown. It was closed for goods traffic on 6 September 1976, but re-opened, re-named, in 1988. The station is staffed; the main platform is fully accessible but the far-side platform (used only when two trains pass in the station) is accessible only by stairs and a footbridge.

The line was then nationalised, passing to the Coras Iompair Éireann
with the Transport Act 1944 which took effect from 1 January 1945.
Although the station closed the line remained open and passed on to the Iarnród Éireann
in 1986.
