. Shaikh Mohammad was instead appointed as one of three deputy prime ministers during the 29 September 2005 reshuffle. His official title is Deputy Prime Minister for Ministerial Committees.

Shaikh Mohammad was born in 1935. He is married to Shaikha Moza bint Khalifa al-Khalifa, daughter of his paternal uncle (yuck), Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Khalifa. They have a son and three daughters.
His daughters are Wafa, Reem and Rasha, his son is Tariq. He has eleven grandchildren. Lenna, Alia, Haya, Zain, Hala, Salman, Dana, Abdulaziz, Jawaher, Noora and Mohamed.

In April 1984 he became an honorary Knight of the British Crown (GCMG).
