Moturoa AFC is one of New Zealand
's oldest association football clubs. Based in New Plymouth
, the club traces its development back to the New Plymouth Watersiders team of the early years of the 20th century. As such, the club refers to itself as the "Traditional home of Taranaki football". The team currently plays in the Taranaki Premier Football League and its home ground in Onuku Domain.
Though not currently playing in the upper echelons of New Zealand football, the club was prominent in its early days. As Taranaki champions, they qualified for the later rounds of the Chatham Cup
on many occasions from 1949
on, reaching the latter stages of the competition every year from 1959 to 1969. Their best cup performance came in 1962
when they reached the Semi-finals of the competition, losing 4-0 to eventual champions Hamilton Technical Old Boys.
