Newspapers are the foundation and core business of the company owned by the Morris family since 1945. Today the Georgia-based enterprise reaches across the nation, has holdings in Europe and employs 6,000 people.

Bankruptcy

Morris Publishing Group announced it would file Chapter 11 Bankruptcy by January 19, 2010. The "prepackaged" bankruptcy plan will cut the companies' debt in half. It left bankruptcy on March 2.
