Since January 2006, Nextjet
operates two flights to Arlanda (positioning from Sveg
) on weekdays (and three on Thursdays), plus one on Sundays in 50 minutes, with a 19-seater Beech 1900D prop aircraft, except on Saturdays. This route, focused on business travellers, is integrated in the Amadeus reservation system, and can be easily linked to the Scandinavian Airlines System
and other airlines networks. Nextjet also operates charter flights with a Cessna
jet. Besides, the field houses the Ovansiljans Flygklubb.
As the number of passengers dramatically fell from about 50,000 passengers per year in the 1980s to 7,000 at Mora, following a trend experienced during this period by every single Swedish third-level airport, cutthroat competition between two domestic airlines, Skyways Express
and the defunct European Executive Express
came to an end in 2005, leaving the area without flight to Stockholm
and the outside world. Mora municipality cared for the airport before Dalaflyget was set up.
