Geography

Monchel-sur-Canche is situated on the banks and in the vally of the river Canche, which feeds the local fish/trout farm, it is 25 miles (40 km) west of Arras, on the D102 road.

Monchel-Sur-Canche, is known as the Little Village with a Big Heart (le petit village avec un grand coeur) locally.

Within Monchel, there are several innovative businesses, in addition to the wonderful bakers/bar, which has to rate as one of the friendliest in Northern France, is the “Clos de Monchel” http://www.le-clos-de-monchel.abcsalles.com/prive/fr/fiche.php?n=15823 which caters for all ceremonies, be it weddings or business conferences, plus the 30 odd lakes at the trout farm “Pisiculture de Monchel” http://www.pisciculturedemonchel.com/MONCHEL_WEB/_Accueil.htm are a draw for everyone in the region and are right in the middle of this lovely village.

It also has a rich history,http://www.ngw.nl/int/fra/m/monchel.htm tells the story of the coat of arms, and the decapitation of its three saints.

Monchel-Sur-Canche really does have so much to offer the visitor/holiday maker and resident, so much on offer in this wonderful little village.
