 Faculty of Art & Design undertakes teaching and research in the areas of fine arts, multimedia, art theory, industrial design and architecture. Monash is one of few institutions in Australia to offer a range of art and design courses within the one faculty. In fact, it is one of few Australian universities with a Faculty of Art and Design.

In 2008, the Faculty launched a new course in architecture

, the first new architecture course in Australia for 30 years, and the only one based in an art and design faculty.
