In 2007, Mohd Johari was the subject of a corruption investigation following allegations that he received RM
5 million for releasing several criminals while the Deputy Internal Security Minister. The investigation was closed by Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail who found there was "no statement to implicate" Johari.
