Modern Armenian is the written form of the Armenian language

 which came to be used starting in the 18th century.

Modern Armenian has two branches:
  1. Western Armenian (or "Turkish-Armenian" or "Istanbul Armenian")
  2. Eastern Armenian (or "Russian-Armenian" or "Yerevan Armenian").
