The complex has been under construction since 2006, but stopped for several months during 2008 because of land disputes. It is due to open some time in 2011.

The complex is expected to host the 2010 Mission Hills Star Trophy and 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup.

Other facilities

The complex is also expected to contain 12 world-class restaurants, a fully equipped sports and recreation centre, tennis courts, and an aquatic theme park, natural mineral springs, a spa, and a shopping arcade.
