Miriam Labbok, MD is an internationally renowned breastfeeding advocate, lactation scientist, and women's and children's issues advocate.
Dr.Labbok is know for description of Lactational Amenorrhea Method
as a method of birth spacing. She is the author of more than 300 research articles and book chapters in the areas of breastfeeding, women's and children's health, and birth spacing. She champions community health initiatives using operational and translational research approaches. Together with Paige Hall Smith, PhD, Dr. Labbok organizes yearly Breastfeeding and Feminism symposium - a scientific forum to look at breastfeeding as a social and a public health issue.
She graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1975.
On January 1, 2006 Dr.Labbok accepted a position as a first director of Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute at the School of Public Health at the UNC Chapel Hill

Biography
Miriam Labbok was born on 24 October 1949 in a Jewish family in Trenton, New Jersey.She graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1975.
