Minneapolis , nicknamed "City of Lakes" and the "Mill City," is the county seat of Hennepin County, the largest city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, and the 48th largest in the United States...

. It was established in 1853 and serves as the final resting place of several figures who shaped the early history of Minneapolis. Nearly 200 veterans are buried there, along with many of the city's early African-American residents and several thousand immigrants. In total, about 20,000 people are buried there.

The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places
