History

The Ministry of Finance was established nine months after the Independence of the Republic, on November 14, 1844, under the name Ministry of Finance and Trade. It was his first Minister Ricardo Miura, 1844 to 1847.

(one of the Fathers of the Fatherland) was the fourth Minister of September 26 of 1849 to April 8 of 1850.

In 1926 its name was changed to Secretary of State for Finance, to be its first Secretary M. Martin de Moya.

On January 28 of 1931 merges with the Ministry of Labor and the Communications and its name was changed to Ministry of Finance, Labor and Communications. Then, on Aug. 27 of that year, that decree was rescinded and the Secretariat goes back to being the Ministry of Finance.

On November 28, 1934, changing its name and is called Secretary of State for the Treasury. On February 28, 1938 the Secretary of State for the Treasury called Secretary of State for the Treasury and Commerce.

On May 4, 1945 to the Secretary of State, Treasury and Commerce is called the State Department of Treasury and Public Credit. 1st. January 1955 the Secretariat assumes the name of Ministry of Finance.

On January 7 of 1957 is called the Secretariat of State for Finance and Banking and May 14 1959 re-named Ministry of Finance. In May 1963 the Secretariats are called ministries, which changed its name to Ministry of Finance.

In September of 1963 was again called Secretary of State for Finance.

During the War of April 1965, the Constitutionalist government establishes the Ministry of Finance, while the Government of National Reconstruction keeps the Secretary of State for Finance.

The Interim Government restored in 1965 the Ministry of Finance, until the November 28, 1966 a new constitution restores the name of Ministry of Finance.

On December 27 of 2006 is once again called Secretary of State for Finance, Law 494-06 of Organization of the Ministry of Finance.
