 GAA Club was formed in 1892. Its home ground is Hennessy Memorial Park which is located out the Spanish Point road in the town. Hennessy Memorial Park is one of the largest fields in the country and is often regarded as one of the best pitches mainly due to its ability to be played on even after the worst of weather. It underwent a major redevelopment in the 1990s and was rewarded with the hosting of county finals in both football and hurling in the late 90s as well as numerous inter-county matches. A 1100 seater stand is just after being built on the carpark side of the pitch. It is a real asset to the facilities at Hennessy Memorial Park. Its primary colours are maroon and amber while in recent years the club had also worn a second strip which was navy and yellow. The current club Chairperson is: Gerry (twin) McMahon, Club Member Noel Walsh is a former Munster Council Chairman who was instrumental in abolishment of Rule 42. The current club sponsors are Cogans Bar & Restaurant.

The club has teams in both male and ladies competitions. It has male teams at Senior, Junior A, U21, Minor, U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8 while it has ladies team in Senior, Junior, Minor, U16 and U14. .
