 issued by the late Roman and Byzantine Empires. It was struck with variable fineness, generally with a weight between 3.8 and 6.0 grams. The miliarense was struck from the beginning of the 4th century under Constantine I with a diameter of 23 mm. The name was also applied to Byzantine

There were two kinds of miliarense: light and heavy. It took 14 heavy miliarensia and 18 light miliarensia to equal one solidus
