The surgery was successful but he was ruled out for the remainder of Derby's 2009/10 season as well as the entirety of the 2010/11 campaign. However, Addison made a quicker than expected recovery, with Clough suggesting he may be back in first team action as early as January 2011. He was pencilled in to play a reserve game against Sheffield Wednesday
