Vlachos is remembered in English football for his spells at Portsmouth and Walsall. He first joined Portsmouth on loan in January 1998, and after making his move to the club permanent he went on to score two goals against Plymouth Argyle in the League Cup and Tranmere Rovers in the league. He joined Walsall in February 2000, and scored once against Charlton Athletic, before leaving the club in June 2000.
