. As quarterback for Purdue during the 1974 football season, he led the Boilermakers to a 31-20 victory over arch rival Notre Dame at Notre Dame's stadium in South Bend, Indiana. Following this victory, Purdue did not defeat Notre Dame at Notre Dame for 30 years until 2004, when Kyle Orten led the Boilermakers to a 41-16 victory in South Bend. Nicknamed "Dorothy," he is regarded as one of Purdue football's best quarterbacks with Bob Griese
