Michael Barr is a software engineer

Barr began his career working as an embedded programmer at Hughes Network Systems, where he wrote software for products including the first-generation Hughes-branded DirecTV
receiver, which sold in the millions of units. He subsequently wrote embedded software at TSI TelSys, PropHead Development, and Netrino.
Barr is the author of the three books: Programming Embedded Systems in C with GNU Development Tools, Embedded Systems Dictionary (co-authored by Jack Ganssle), and "Embedded C Coding Standard".
Michael Barr has appeared on PBS’ American Business Review, and been quoted in various newspapers. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Embedded Systems Conference
. He is currently president of engineering services firm Netrino.
Michael Barr studied electrical engineering at the University of Maryland in College Park, from which he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 and a Master of Science degree in 1997. He later taught ENEE 447 Operating Systems Theory as an adjunct faculty in the same Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In 2006, Michael came back to University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business and received an MBA.
