He had a successful career with Panathinaikos BC as he won 6 Greek Championships
(1975, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1984) and 3 Greek Cups
(1982, 1983, 1986) with the club.
In 1991 he won the European Cup Winners' Cup
championship while playing for PAOK BC
.
In 1993 Memos Ioannou won the European Cup
while playing for Aris BC

He was a member of the Greek National Squad
that won the gold medal at the Eurobasket 1987
