He was re-elected for a third term on November 13, 2006, by a three-to-one margin over rookie candidate Brad Bock. Veale had been a local politician for over 15 years in the Strathroy-Caradoc area and has suggested that he will retire after this term, however, he has admitted that he may change his mind.

On September 3, 2010, Veale died of what is believed to be a heart attack.
