International career

After an impressing finish to the 2009-10 season with Šibenik, including some spectacular goals, he received his first call-up to the Bosnia-Herzegovina national football team in May 2010 for the friendly matches against Sweden and Germany. He made his debut against Sweden, coming on as a substitute in the second half.
