, was founded in 1950 by a group of like minded individuals looking for a respite from their daily grind for themselves and their families.


Primarily Jewish, the founding members, led by Sylvan M. Cohen, a prominent Philadelphia attorney, included the club’s first board of governors: Harry Blofstein, Morris Boehm, Alfred B. Carp, Sylvan M. Cohen, Sidney Cohn, Max E. Falik, Milton Gold, Samuel Green, Leonard Gross, Harold L. Landesberg, Ben F. Lieber, Jules Link, J. Leonard Schorr, Irvin Segal, Walter Seideman, Paul Silver, Myron B. Sloane, Edward Taxin, Howard Weiss, and Jack L. Wolgin. Sylvan Cohen was elected president. The other officers were Alfred Carp, secretary; Irvin Segal, treasurer; Jack Wolgin, vice president; Max Falik, vice president; and Harold Landesberg, vice president.

Designed by the notable father & son team of Bill and Dave Gordon http://www.worldgolf.com/golf-architects/william-david-gordon.html the Championship Course was built on open and very gently rolling land, where cattle and horses had grazed for years. In the mid-90s the Maryland-based firm of Ault, Clark and Associates would be brought in to make extensive changes to the Gordon layout. Seven new holes would be created then, a number of others would be revised. In recent years even more changes have been made to the course to create a challenging and visually enjoyable experience.

In 2007 The Championship Course was utilized as a qualifying venue for The USGA Amateur Tournament.

In June 2007 Meadowlands Country Club also became the first private country club in the United States to open itself up to military families in appreciation for their service to this nation. The local Supervisors of Whitpain Township declared Monday, June 18th Armed Forces Appreciation Day in Whitpain Township.http://www.whitpaintownship.org/docs/gov_bos_min11_07.html Meadowlands Country Club invited local service people who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families to use the club's recreational facilities that day. Club members served as caddies and served food to these guests in appreciation for their service to our country.
