. Founded in 2006, the school offers a Christian college preparatory program to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

History

In 2005 ideas of a private school at a local church named the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ were originated. The idea of the school was that they would follow the ABEKA Curriculum on DVDS. The idea of the school did not become a reality until spring of 2006 when plans began and the idea was approved by the leaders of the church building being used. On August 16, 2006 McAlester Christian Academy opened its doors to 27 Preschoolers, Elementary Schoolers, and Junior/Senior high Schoolers. It began with a faculty of just 6 people. By the end of the school year its enrollment was at 33 students.

On August 16, 2007 McAlester Christian Academy opened up its doors for its second year but this time to 43 students. It currently has a faculty of 8 people and at the end of the first semester its enrollment was up to 49 students with more on the way. The school held its first commencement exercises in 2008.
In August 2008 the school opened its doors once again, this time to over 50 students. The 50 students went through their year, with five graduating seniors in the second graduating class.
In August 2009, the school opened its doors, for its fourth year. The enrollment maintained an estimated fifty students ages 2–18. This year we began the school year with seven senior students.

Curriculum

McAlester Christian Academy follows the abeka curriculum completely throughout the school.
For the first two years the academy used the A BEKA DVD program but now the whole school is teacher taught but still uses the A BEKA curriculum.
For the students in highschool grades 11th and 12th, McAlester Christian Academy has their students that score highly on the ACT, take concurrent enrollment at Eastern Oklahoma State College

Upon leaving McAlester Christian, the average ACT, score is a 23 out of 36.

Grading System

McAlester Christian Academy has a Four-Point grading system and follows the Five-Point grading system for honors courses.

Athletics

The school currently fields teams in basketball, soccer, cheerleading and track. Their cheerleading squad has won the state competition currently 3 years in a row, and its basketball has had a successful first season and has begun its second season. The track team attended numerous track meets in its first season and were very successful in each. The soccer team had its first season in fall of 2008

The 2008 - 2009 cheerleading squad has currently 12 members on their squad and 3 of which are captains. They expect this year to be even more successful than the two years previous to the program.......
They received a bid to FCC Nationals in Orlando Florida and once again placed first at the Oklahoma Christian Schools Athletic Association State Cheerleading Competition in November 2008.
