Maximus Air Cargo, an Abu Dhabi Aviation Group company was established in 2005 to provide tailored solutions for moving outsized cargo. After operating for 5 years in the region, it is now a significant regional air cargo carrier and cargo aircraft wet lease operator (ACMI), employing more than 200 staff and operating a fleet of eight all-cargo Antonov An-124-100, Ilyushin IL-76TD and Airbus A300-600RP2F aircraft across the middle east, europe, africa and asia. Maximus currently runs regular scheduled cargo services on behalf of Etihad Crystal Cargo and is the appointed exclusive air relief support partner of the UAE Red Crescent.

State-owned Abu Dhabi Aviation has acquired a 95% stake in heavy-lift carrier Maximus Air Cargo, the Middle East’s largest all-cargo airline.
President and CEO Fathi Hilal Buhazza said Maximus would retain its brand, operational independence and management structure, but the new ownership would allow the company to increase its efficiency and profitability and ensure its future growth.
Maximus has already reported outstanding growth during the first nine months of 2008, with a four-fold increase in freight-tonne km flown. Revenue grew from US$38m to $86m.
Commercial contracts accounted for 75% of the hours flown, with the balance coming from UAE government entities.
It operates a total of six freighters, including AN-124-100, A300-600RF and IL-76 aircraft across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia, including regular scheduled cargo services on behalf of airlines including Etihad, Iberia, Air France, and Sudan Airways.
It is also the exclusive air relief support partner for the UAE Red Crescent.

The conversion of a new Airbus A300-600 regional freighter, purchased by Maximus Air Cargo at the start of this year, and part of a of Dhs350m expansion programme, is on schedule for its mid-summer entry into the company's fleet. The aircraft, offering an maximum structural payload up to 46 tonnes of payload capacity, is one of three purchased from Japan Airlines (JAL) and has been at the Dresden, Germany plant of EADS EFW, where the complex adaptation process is now nearing completion.OWNERSHIP
