, captaining them to a premiership and kicking 6 goals in the grand final. He played as a half forward and centreman during his time at South Melbourne, winning their 1966 best and fairest award and representing Victoria in interstate football.

He left the club after the 1967 season and joined the VFA's Williamstown as captain-coach. In 2003 he was named as centreman in Williamstown's official 'Team of the Century'.
