Matty Hughes is a professional football player currently playing centre half for Conference National
Team Fleetwood Town

He was born in Salford, Greater Manchester on 1 April 1992.
He began his football career at Rochdale, progressing to the reserve side whilst still at secondary school. He attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs, most notably Liverpool
. At 16 years old and on leaving school he opted to sign for Celtic
. In July 2008 he signed a 3 year professional contract with the Glasgow club.
Hughes went on to captain the Celtic youth side to back to back doubles winning both the Scottish FA Cup and Scottish Premier League
in 2009/10 and 2010/11.
In 2009, the Scottish Premier League
abolished its reserve league limiting the development of young players into the first team squads.
Hughes regularly featured in Neil Lennon's development squad and made his senior debut in the John Kennedy Testimonial Game against Finns Harp in Donegal on 6th March 2011.
In May 2011 following interest from a number of English League clubs he opted to sign for Fleetwood Town
