He returned to Amsterdam and resumed mercantile pursuits.
He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin
, in June 1843 and two months later settled near Eagle, Waukesha County, and engaged in agricultural pursuits.
He was in the Justice of the Peace
for 10 years.
He died in Eagle, Wisconsin
, September 12, 1872.
He was interred in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
