 Geoffrey Palmer, who was also a professor of law at Victoria University for many years. In 2005 he was the recipient of the NZ Law Foundation International Research Fellowship Te Karahipi Rangahau A Taiao. A major book, the result of his fellowship, The Treaty of Waitangi in New Zealand's law and constitution was published in November 2008.

Along with his father, he is co-author of Bridled Power, regarded as the pre-eminent text on New Zealand
