Maria rose to fame in 2007 when she applied to take part in the musical reality show Factor-X Spanish version of The X Factor broadcast on Cuatro television channel. Only 17, she went on to win the contest singing "Cançao do mar" from Dulce Pontes

After X Factor

Her album after her win was Te espero aquí by Sony BMG, although she had two pre-X Factor albums through a small Andalusian record label. The album was released on 13 November 2007. First and only single from the album was "Agüita de abril".

Her second album Los tejados donde fuimos más que amigos gave her another Top 40 single entitled La lluvia
